As one of the more common dental restorations we offer, dental crowns are used when cavities caused by dental decay are too severe to be repaired by traditional dental fillings. Often known as a dental “cap,” a dental crown is used to cover healthy parts of the tooth to retain as much of the natural tooth as possible while also restoring the functionality of the damaged tooth. The dental crown is custom made and shaped to fit the tooth and comfortably match your bite. This dental restoration can be made from gold, metal or porcelain. Most patients prefer porcelain crowns because they look like normal teeth.
